The… Second Lawsuit!

Serious times call for serious photoshoots.

After successfully mauling SM Entertainment with all the best e-lawyers they could find, JYJ thought they were safe to be greedy bastards under Avex. Soon after, they released their first mini-album “The…(big dicks)” including a DVD tour (of their big dicks — no not really) and collaborating with such talents as Ayumi Hamasaki. Free from such a restrictive, evil company as SM Entertainment, JYJ could do what they chose with their rights as artists in the glorious land of the rising sun — all the while laughing at their two former bandmates for being chumps and gossiping about whether one of them had gonorrhea or not.

Not content to own a gelato shop, a spa, several diamond-studded swimming pools and the South Korean soccer team, they felt it was time to go back to their fanbase in Korea. Possibly because JYJ are Korean and therefore their strongest fanbase is located in, well, Korea. Returning to the Korean market would be a good way to tap into easy cash.

Then Avex dropped a bomb — JYJ’s contract is no more. Promotions are put on hold! Many Cass screamed “But Jaejoong-hyung/Junsu-unnie/Yoochun-oppa will die on the streets!!! How will they afford to live anymore?? What cruelty!!” while brandishing their favourite DBSK razor blades and slashing away.

Avex justified their reasons for dropping J.Y.J, stating they did not agree with the corrupt dealings of the Korean label they were under, C-JES. They heard reports C-JES were connected to organized crime using extortion and blackmail.

J.Y.J with their 9000 lawyers at the ready shot back,

“That content does not break our current contract with Avex, so it cannot be the cause for a discontinuation in promotions, nor nullification of our contract. Many months ago, because of this same issue, Avex requested that C-JES Entertainment be omitted from the contract. …JYJ agreed to this request and devotedly participated in the contract discussions because we wanted to have smooth promotions within Japan. But Avex gave JYJ a substantially disadvantageous condition different from what we had originally agreed on the contract; once we declined that condition, they suddenly developed this stance to cancel the contract based on C-JES’s alleged crime.

For all of those Beefcakes out there who don’t read tl;dr, what it basically says is “It’s unfair to terminate our contract based on C-JES and Avex has no soul or care for artist rights, also they are unfair!!!” type butthurt. One of J.Y.J’s lawyers even went on to say,

“It was immoral of the company (Avex) to put JYJ in a tight spot just because they acted in such a way that would not satisfy the company (Avex)’s greed. Many efforts will be put into solving this case so that JYJ can continue their promotions smoothly in Japan.”

Which is basically a wordy way of saying that Avex are greedy, immoral bastards and we’ll do what we can do to put JYJ back in business. One thing to remember though is that Avex is probably one of the lesser labels to be terrified of when it comes to “artist rights”. A company has to be pretty lax when their 30-something-year-old starlet is still making music that’s causing her to be deaf in her left ear, and another idol who basically masturbates in her MVs. Idols have moved away from stricter labels such as Hello! Project and Johnny’s Entertainment to be a part of Avex. Is this company totally immoral?

Probably — and probably Avex has some shady dealings. Probably, C-JES has shady dealings of their own. And probably, JYJ have some less-than-wholesome connections. What the writers at Korean Beef mutually agree on is that JYJ are in one big bawwfest and need to stop sicking their lawyers on everyone, lest they never return to fame because nobody fucking wants them. The last time a major star — look up Suzuki Ami — did a lawsuit, she was dropped like she was hot and never came back to the spotlight. She was considered Ayumi Hamasaki’s rival!

It would be best for JYJ in that eyesight then, to stop fucking suing everyone for “artist rights”. Yunho and Changmin are probably laughing at them as we speak.
